MRD Foundation is funding the complete renovation of Ecole Elementaire Seyni Ibrahima Ndiaye, a 25-year-old public school located in the Medina Mbaba area of Kaolack.
For years, students have attended classes in deteriorating buildings with unstable structures and unusable sanitation facilities. The school’s 12 classrooms, each serving at least 24 children, had raised serious safety concerns among parents, many of whom feared for their children’s wellbeing. Despite repeated calls for assistance, support had not materialised until the Foundation stepped in.
The renovation will include the construction of new classrooms, administrative buildings, and modern toilet facilities, replacing the existing dilapidated structures. MRD Foundation will finance 100% of the project, covering all construction work from structural foundations to full furnishing and equipment. Architectural plans, soil studies, and drainage assessments have already been completed, with construction scheduled to begin in early March 2026.
Education remains central to Mr. Dieng’s philanthropic mission. The project reflects a broader commitment to improving learning conditions and ensuring that access to schooling is both safe and sustainable. By fully funding the renovation, the Foundation aims to restore confidence among families and create an environment where students can focus on their studies without risk to their safety.
This initiative forms part of MRD Foundation’s wider efforts to support education across Senegal, including the provision of school supplies, fee assistance, tutoring, and the development of learning spaces for children facing economic hardship.
