Mouhamad Rassoul Dieng Invests in Youth and Community Development in Guédiawaye with MRD Focus

Senegalese entrepreneur and philanthropist Mouhamad Rassoul Dieng called on young people in Dakar’s suburbs to pursue their ambitions and believe in their potential as he launched new initiatives in Guédiawaye focused on sport, education and community.

Held across the weekend starting 17 October 2026 in Doro Aw, MRD Focus marked the start of work on a new synthetic football pitch and the awarding of scholarships to the ten best-performing students in the area.

Speaking at the event, which was attended by Mayor of Guédiawaye Ahmet Aidara, Mr Dieng said: “I am sending a message to the young people, to the people of the suburbs of Dakar, telling them not to be afraid to take initiative. We know that we have brave, very courageous and enterprising people in the suburbs of Dakar.”

The work in Guédiawaye extends beyond sport and education. The MRD Foundation and the wider MRD movement are also planning initiatives to support Qur’anic schools through material and financial assistance, alongside free medical consultations, health screenings and the distribution of medicines.

For Mr Dieng, these initiatives have a personal significance. Having grown up in Guédiawaye, he is committed to giving back to the community and supporting projects that address local needs. He also thanked the event’s organisers, including Kosso and Astou Dia, for their contributions.
